TWO SISTERS, TWO CONTINENTS, TWO PASSIONS… this is how “PANEUVA” came to life!!!

We are two sisters, Emanuela (Mella) and Elena (Ele).

Both born and raised in Turin, Italy, the last few years life took us apart: one in Italy and the other one in California.

Well… if before we were like cats and dogs, now we want to feel closer, and that’s why there’s not a single day that we don’t use our cellphones either to talk or just to send a text message… especially now that in our lives there is our first son/nephew… mum’s and auntie’s love!!!!

During those long phone calls  the idea “paneuva” was created, to merge two passions: food and style. While we prepare dishes that through their colors and smells create daily menus, we also think about the atmosphere at the table that can help those dishes come to life.

The blog’s name might seem very simple at first (paneuva means bread and grape in Italian), but it actually refers to our ancestors that after a long day in the field they would end every meal with grape and bread. And it’s with this memory that we feel a bit closer, the miles between us seem to go away  and we picture ourselves at the same table, creating, and spending time together.

We hope this blog could help you guys in the kitchen, enjoy the art of cooking with your loved ones, and we welcome you to sit at the table with us, to ask questions, and share your opinions…

There is plenty of room at our table! 🙂

DUE SORELLE, DUE CONTINENTI, DUE PASSIONI… ecco come nasce “PANEUVA”!!

Siamo due sorelle, Emanuela (Mella) e Elena (Ele).

Nate e cresciute a Torino, da qualche anno il destino ha voluto separarci…. Una in Italia, l’altra in California.

Bene… se prima eravamo cane e gatto ora, con la lontananza, non passa giorno che almeno una telefonata o un semplice messaggio non parta dai nostri cellulari per sentirci più vicine… soprattutto adesso che nelle nostre vite è entrato il primo figlio/nipotino… l’amore di mamma e zia!!!!

E così, tra una telefonata e l’altra nasce quest’idea, “paneuva”, un intreccio delle due passioni che ci accomunano e ci contraddistinguono: la cucina e la passione per la ricerca dello stile a tavola. Così mentre prepariamo piatti che con i loro colori e profumi danno vita al menù del giorno immaginiamo tutto quanto a contorno possa esaltarli e creare la giusta atmosfera.

Con questo blog, il cui nome sembra banale ma in realtà richiama il pensiero dei nostri antenati contadini che per finire un buon pasto servivano uva delle loro vigne da mangiare rigorosamente con il pane, noi ci sentiamo più vicine, la distanza solo geografica che ci separa sembra dissolversi e ci vediamo sedute alla stessa tavola ad apparecchiare, creare, sperimentare nuove idee che speriamo possano essere utili anche a voi che ci leggete e perché no… a questa nostra tavola ideale aggiungiate man mano una sedia per sedervi accanto a noi a chiederci consigli, a proporre alternative o avanzare qualche critica… vi aspettiamo!! Di sedie al nostro tavolo ce ne stanno quante ne volete!!!! 🙂
